Robespierre Chair
The Robespierre Chair is my third assignment in my Models and Prototypes class, in which my group and I were tasked with designing and constructing a chair made entirely out of wood. The primary objective of this project was to combine modern production techniques with an almost Baroque aesthetic.
The Robespierre Chair is designed to be CNC-cut and assembled without the use of screws, highlighting contemporary fabrication and assembly methods while maintaining a historically influenced visual language.
The main challenge of this project was finding the right balance between Baroque influence and the constraints of an almost two-dimensional wooden structure. Throughout the process, I learned the importance of letting go of early concepts and discarding ideas that were not effectively contributing to the overall design.
